The Secret to More Energy? Close Your Loops

You may have heard a quote that many have attributed to Nikola Tesla:

If you think of everything in terms of vibration, frequency and energy, you’ll understand the key to the universe.

I 100% believe in this. Physics tells us that everything, including us, is always vibrating — nothing is ever at rest. Some objects vibrate more quickly than others; the New Age among us would say that these things are high vibe. They may also say, with a negative connotation, that certain people and things are low vibe. But I digress…

The point is, we’re all energy and life is a game of energy. The law of attraction states you get back what you put out. I also believe the act of saying you’re going to do something is putting energy into the universe. Every intention you set carries energy, shaping what comes back to you. You’re opening a contract with the universe, if you will.

As a thought experiment, imagine the universe as a computer program. The moment you say you’re going to do something, you create an open loop—just like a program running a repetitive task until it reaches a resolution. Until you complete the action, that loop remains active, consuming your mental energy the way an unfinished process drains a computer’s CPU until it finds what it’s looking for and terminates. Now, think about how many open loops you have in your life—unfinished tasks, unkept promises, lingering intentions. Each one is using up your energy, which explains why we often feel so drained.

I believe the remedy is rather simple: do what you say you’re going to do, or don’t put it out there. I used to be a serial loop opener, and when I started adopting this mentality, my relationships and career improved and I felt like an overall better human being. Conversely, I notice when I slide back into serial looping — not doing what I say I’m going to do — I’m drained.

Try it for at least one week, do everything you say you’re going to do. Did you recently run into an old friend at the grocery store and say “we should get together soon, I’ll text you?” Text them. Did you tell your kid you’d get ice cream this weekend? Get the ice cream. Started washing your clothes? Dry them, fold them, and put them away, dang it!

Thought experiment aside…even if we aren’t living in some magical, programmable existence, doesn’t it feel good to set an intention and get it done instead of letting a bunch of promises to yourself and others linger and languish? Isn’t it stressful to have a lot of unfinished tasks in the back of your mind?

Stop draining yourself. Close those contracts. Keep your word – stop wasting your life’s CPU. It’s all energy, baby.
