I was re-listening to an episode of the podcast Know Thyself, and the hosts were talking about natal chart readings. The host who does readings said he asks people what do they do for fun and a lot of people can’t tell you. We get trapped in a work, eat, sleep cycle and fun is no longer a factor.
I thought about what that means in my life. My number one “fun” activity is dancing. Whether it’s at a club or in a troupe, I used to be able to dance the night away. As I’m older, my dancing days seem to be in the rear-view mirror, unfortunately. So how do I define fun as a 41-year-old woman?
I thought long and hard, and the one constant in my life has been writing. I haven’t blogged in awhile because I’ve been journaling in my personal analog journal, but I think it’s time. I miss sharing my random thoughts with the world. I miss the satisfaction of hitting the publish button. Most of all, I miss people reaching out saying that something I’ve written has inspired them. That’s my joy. And I think it’s my capital P Purpose in life.
So today, I make a resolution to write for public consumption at least once a week. Even if it’s simply writing into the void, the thought of one person taking on a new perspective because of what I’ve written is enough.
In the past, I’ve written about my career, my cross-country moves, spirituality and more. What do you want to hear about? Drop me a note!
